Our Staff Selection Process

A diverse selection of carers with appropriate training and experience are vetted in line with government expectations of a safe recruitment procedure.  How do we deliver the objectives of our care provision?

We achieve this by having:

Trained Staff

Every effort is made to update and train staff so that they have the skills necessary for the changing pattern of care in the community. Specialist training is provided wherever there is a necessity. This also equips staff to provide care to the ethnic mix in the community and for aspects such as dementia, autism, epilepsy, first-aid and health & safety etc.

Induction: In each area there is some knowledge that needs to be acquired swiftly. The induction programme may last around 3 days. Each induction process is tailored to individual care staff covering the relevant topics, including all the other general topics that are essential for the staff to perform efficiently.

Monitoring and supervision

New staff are supported by their more experienced colleagues through routine checks. All staff are supported through induction, training and supervision.

Quality Assurance

Our policies and procedures are reviewed and updated annually making sure we are compliant as well as any statutory legislation. We also plan to receive feedback by ensuring questionnaires are distributed to our service users, relatives, and stakeholders e.g. GP’s and district nurses, on an annual basis requesting their comments and views on the service provided. This enables us to identify where we can improve our service.

We have a policy of promoting the maintenance of a normal social network and social activities with users of our service. Each care plan includes a facility for recording life history, social networks and contacts, and preferences for activities and hobbies so that the service user is offered access to those networks and activities which are appropriate and desired.

Profiling:  We profile all our clients and match their precise requirements against our extensive staff database. We discuss requirements, service type, shift patterns, training, personality etc.
